HEAVY DIESEL MECHANIC
We’re looking for an experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanic with expertise in maintaining mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems to keep our equipment running efficiently and supporting Hawke’s Bay’s global connections.
About the Role
As a Heavy Plant Mechanic, you’ll play a key role in our success by maintaining and servicing our Container Handling Equipment and mobile plant fleets—critical assets that keep our operations moving.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Hands-on fault finding, troubleshooting, and repairs & maintenance of plant and equipment
- Responding to breakdowns and participating in an on-call roster
- Contributing to our preventative and predictive maintenance programs
- Championing workplace health and safety compliance
- Driving continuous improvement through technology and innovation
- Supporting Port-wide initiatives and fostering a One Team culture
What We’re Looking For
- Trade qualification in Automotive Heavy Engineering (Level 4) or equivalent (additional electric vehicle qualifications beneficial).
- Fleet maintenance experience, preferably in a complex operational setting
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic knowledge
- A positive team player with strong communication skills
- A strong commitment to health and safety
- Willingness to work at heights and be available for on-call roster duties, including weekends and public holidays
