Napier Port is a critical gateway for New Zealand trade and the software behind it matters. We’re  looking for an experienced Full Stack Software Engineer to help design, build and evolve the  in-house applications that keep one of the country’s most important ports operating safely, efficiently  and securely.

This is not a “business as usual” development role. Your work will directly support port operations,  logistics, and internal systems that enable vessels to move, cargo to flow, and decisions to be made  in real time. If you enjoy solving complex problems and seeing your software used every day in a  high-impact, real-world environment, this role will appeal.

You’ll join an innovative, proactive Digital Technology team and play a key role within the Software  Development function, reporting to the Software Manager.

What you’ll do

  • Design, build, test and maintain full-stack applications, integrations and services that  support port operations and core business systems.
  • Develop resilient, secure software solutions where uptime, reliability and performance  genuinely matter.
  • Provide technical support and ongoing improvement for in-house applications, ensuring  issues are diagnosed and resolved quickly.
  • Work closely with fellow engineers to drive software development best practice, code quality  and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with wider Digital Technology teams to deliver projects aligned to Napier Port’s  strategic and operational objectives.

The impact you’ll have

  • Improve the digital systems that underpin day-to-day port operations.
  • Contribute to safer, more efficient and more reliable port services.
  • Help modernise and evolve in-house platforms with a strong focus on security, resilience and  scalability.
  • See your software actively used by operational and business teams, not hidden away in the  background.

What you’ll bring

  • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Systems or a related  technical field.
  • At least five years’ commercial software development experience.
  • Strong experience building, maintaining and supporting C# .NET applications.
  • A collaborative mindset, curiosity, and a genuine interest in improving how software supports  the business.

Technical experience required

  • .NET MVC
  • .NET Core

Applications close: Friday 27th January 2026. Note: You must have current eligibility to work in NZ.

To apply: Submit your CV and a brief cover letter via SEEK, TradeMe, or the Napier Port Website.
