Napier Port is located in Hawke’s Bay and is New Zealand’s fourth largest port; providing a range of port and logistical services (marine, handling, and value add services). Our core revenue (of around $100m per year) comes from container services, bulk cargo and cruise. We receive nearly 700 ships a year, carrying over five million tonnes of cargo and over 100,000 cruise passengers.

To elevate this further we are placing a greater importance on a whole of port approach to reliability, efficiency, and the leveraging of shared resources to enable broader activities.

Reporting to the Technical Operations Manager and supporting capability across multiple business units, the Fleet Maintenance Planner is a key enabler of delivering on operational objectives by leading the coordination, planning, and execution of asset maintenance and reliability activities. The role ensures the seamless integration of preventative and corrective maintenance strategies, facilitates effective vendor engagement, and supports continuous improvement through data, technology, and CMMS optimisation.

KEY PRIORITIES:

  • Lead the pre-planning and coordination of maintenance and technical activities across asset types.
  • Develop and manage daily, weekly, and longer-term maintenance schedules.
  • Support proactive and predictive maintenance practices aligned with strategic and operational goals.
  • Champion CMMS usage and data quality to support planning, reporting, and continuous improvement.
  • Liaise with internal teams, service providers and vendors to ensure timely execution of maintenance activities.
  • Conduct defect analysis and asset performance reviews to inform future planning.
  • Promote and contribute to a “One Team” culture across workgroups and functions.
  • Provide insight and reporting that informs cost, risk, reliability, and sustainability outcomes.
  • Support regulatory and compliance obligations relating to asset management.
  • Coordinate technical administration and support documentation for maintenance planning and execution.
  • Contribute to broader asset renewal, capital planning, and project implementation activities.

The Fleet Maintenance Planner will have experience in technical operations, pre-planning, coordinating technical activities, and managing vendor and service provider relationships.
